No Man, We’re Out of Money

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post. I have a few things sapping my extra time, but I wanted to say something about President Obama’s appearance during the All-Star Game.

Early in the game, President Obama visited the booth to chat with the announcers when Joe Buck noted that the NL hasn’t won an All-Star game since 96. He then asked if there was a bailout plan in place for the National League. The President joked, “no man, we’re out of money.”

Mr. President, our failing and flailing economy is no laughing matter. The destruction of free markets in our country’s march down the pit of statism isn’t funny. The pillaging of current and future generations isn’t something to casually joke about. Jokes have different meanings depending on which side you’re on (maybe that’s why some people joke about the Special Olympics), so maybe it’s funny when you’re the one doing the pillaging. I guess the joke’s on us.
